Salmon Fishing in Perthshire on the River Tay - is internationally recognised one of the best Atlantic salmon rivers in the United Kingdom. The Tay is where the largest ever rod caught salmon in Britain was caught by Miss Georgina Ballantine in 1922, weighing 64lbs. The extensive river system comprises many smaller tributaries also excellent salmon fisheries including the Isla and the Ericht.

NEWS - 40lb Salmon caught at Cargill - reports of some of the biggest fish are being caught this year on the River Tay.

News from the River opening day went well with the biggest fish 22lbs being caught on Islamouth, by the former ghillie Brian Brogan, a toal of 20 fish were landed on the river that week, a great start to the season.

Lower Tay - Stobhall, Taymount , Ballathie , Cargill , Islamouth, Islamouth (Meikleour).

Middle Tay - Meikleour House, Kercock , Baldarroch, Murthly 1 , Stenton , Murthly 2, Newtyle , Dunkeld House.

The River Isla and Ericht tributaries - Islabank, Coupar Grange, Cray, Finegand

Opening day on the River Tay to fish for Atlantic Salmon will be Monday 16th January 2012, starts with the time long tradition of the Opening Day gathering in Dunkeld with the parade of the boats.
